By Chris Thomas, AAPP Foundation President

You will see several messages from myself and the AAPP Foundation highlighting the programs and grants we have sponsored over the last year, along with our plans for continued partnership with AAPP to advance the profession. To summarize, the four specific areas that AAPP and the AAPP Foundation are working together to grow the profession are:

  1. Attracting New Psychiatric Pharmacists
  2. Job Creation
  3. Growing Future Leaders
  4. Supporting Communities and the patients we serve

The continued partnership will be even more important as AAPP embarks on its aggressive strategic plan to move the profession forward. As such, the AAPP Foundation will be represented at the AAPP Board Meeting in November to continue to collaborate on the future of the organizations and our profession.

I am also excited to announce that early next year, the AAPP Foundation will release its first annual report highlighting initiatives, grants awarded, grant recipients, income, spending, and persons that graciously donated to the Foundation over the previous year. This is an important milestone in the Foundation as our continued growth necessitates summary communications regarding all efforts and our desire to be fully transparent with investments, income, and spending of the generous donations contributed to the Foundation.

Finally, we ask you to continue to move forward with us by helping AAPPF to meet its year-end fundraising goal of $60,000. Our increasing number of grant programs and projects are only able to continue because of your support. Take action now to help us reach our $60,000 goal for 2022. We’re tracking our progress online. To contribute to a specific campaign or project, please add a note to your donation in the online pledge system. If you prefer a monthly donation, consider setting up a recurring donation through the AAPP Foundation Facebook page. There are no processing fees, and you can cancel at anytime.

The AAPP Foundation Board of Directors and I thank you for time, your contributions, and your energy. Together, we’re moving psychiatric pharmacy forward!
