Attracting New Psychiatric Pharmacists: Supporting more residency programs and aspiring residents is AAPPF’s goal as they support FREE participation and enhanced technology at the second, annual Residency Showcase in late November. AAPPF’s student and resident focus continues with Annual Meeting registration grants and ongoing research grants such as the Defining the Future grant research program which has yielded publications and contributed to the growth of outstanding psychiatric pharmacists and members of AAPP.
Creating Jobs: Making the case for the creation of psychiatric pharmacy residencies and the hiring of BCPPs is a focal point for AAPP’s Employer Resource Center Task Force. Thanks to the support of AAPPF, in-depth employer interviews and research is underway to inform the contents of the center intended to be broadly available and promoted.
Growing Leaders: Our rapidly evolving world and health care system needs leaders. AAPP and the AAPP Foundation are dedicated to growing the next generation of leaders in psychiatric pharmacy. Work will soon be underway to prioritize competencies and develop a curriculum that will support psychiatric pharmacists in considering and preparing for opportunities to make a difference as a leader.
Impacting Communities: Making a difference nationally is important but so is generating change close to home. In 2022, the first group of Student Chapter Impact Grant recipients completed their projects and showcased their results. From distributing naloxone kits to examining ways to improve student access to counseling and psychological services (CAPS), grant recipients are making an impact on their campuses and communities! The 2022 Impact Grant application period is open to assist our student chapters in making things happen locally.
