President's Letter: Charting the Course for 2024

Recurring Donations Now Accepted! Make an Impact Each Month

The AAPP Foundation system has been upgraded, and we can now accept recurring donations! This change will allow anyone to include donations in their monthly budgets without lifting a finger. Recurring donations can have a tremendous impact! Smaller amounts add up quickly and can significantly impact the support that the Foundation can provide for research, scholarship, and practitioner development. Think about a Foundation initiative that you are passionate about and divide by 12. For example, $235 = (1) Student Registration Grant @ $19.59/month. You can make a difference! Read more.


Mental Health First Aid to be Offered June 4 and 6: Register Today!

The AAPP Foundation is proud to once again sponsor Mental Health First Aid! Two courses will be offered, June 4 and 6, and up to 60 individuals may participate. The blended course involves 2 hours of home-study coursework and 6 hours of virtual instruction with a certified instructor in a Zoom classroom. Read more.

The AAPP Foundation Board of Directors is looking forward to the 2024 AAPP Annual Meeting! Our booth will be in the Rotunda near the registration desk. Kim Tallian Bequest Provides Support to AAPP 2024

The estate bequest made by long-time AAPP member Kim Tallian, PharmD, BCPP, FASHP, FCCP, FCSHP, APH will be partially applied to a session sponsorship at the upcoming 2024 AAPP Annual Meeting titled, Living Through Loss - Navigating Loss by Suicide as a Clinician-Survivor, presented by Dr. Julie Cerel. Dr. Tallian was a passionate psychiatric pharmacist and advocate for the profession, students, residents and patients, Dr. Tallian passed away in January 2023 after a 3-year battle with cancer. AAPP Foundation Awards Student Registration Grants to AAPP 2024

Thanks to the generous support of the AAPP Foundation, AAPP Past Presidents’ Destiny Fund, and AAPP members, 19 PharmD students from 16 different colleges of pharmacy have been awarded $235 registration grants to attend AAPP 2024 in Orlando, Florida! Recipients were highly recommended and selected based on the merits of their applications.

2023 Donors Help the Foundation Reach New Heights

In 2023, 130 donors helped the AAPP Foundation reach a record high donation total of $74,990! At just $10 shy of the $75,000 goal, the AAPP Foundation Board of Directors is incredibly thankful for every single supporter that donated in 2023. Contributed funds assist with the Foundation’s core initiatives, including student grants to attend the AAPP Annual Meeting, Defining the Future  research grants, and Collegiate Chapter Impact Grants. These activities bring the Foundation one step closer to our mission to advance the psychiatric pharmacy profession by supporting research, scholarship, and practitioner development.
