Goals

Thank you for your interest in the AAPP Foundation Collegiate Chapter Impact Grants. The  American Association of Psychiatric Pharmacists Foundation (AAPPF) seeks to fund grants to student chapters who develop projects and activities that strive to meet one or more of the goals below: 

  1. Impact patient care
  2. Address mental health disparities
  3. Create awareness of psychiatric pharmacists and their value and contributions as members of the interprofessional treatment team
  4. Expand interest in psychiatric pharmacy as a career
  5. Reduce the stigma related to mental health and substance use disorders

Activities may include, but are not limited to, events, clinics, and patient education. Carefully read through the grant criteria and timeline before submitting your online application.

2024 Timeline

  • Applications are due by 11:59 p.m. Central Time, Monday, September 30, 2024
  • Grant recipients notified by November 4, 2024
  • Abstract submissions* due for AAPP Annual Meeting (early January 2025)
  • Research/project posters to be presented during AAPP Annual Meeting (April 27-30, 2025)
  • Presentation during Collegiate Chapter Meeting at AAPP Annual Meeting (April 27, 2025)
  • Written reports due on or before May 7, 2025

Impact Grant Criteria

  1. The AAPP Foundation (AAPPF) will award a maximum of $6,000 annually through the Collegiate Chapter Impact Grant program. Assuming appropriate, quality submissions, AAPPF will award a minimum of one award but can split the $6,000 grant amount between up to three chapters annually at its discretion.
  2. Applicants may include up to $500 for registration and travel to the AAPP 2025 Annual Meeting in their itemized budget. At least 1 chapter representative will need to be in attendance.
  3. The scope of the proposal must be consistent with the goals of the Collegiate Chapter Impact Grants.
  4. The Collegiate Chapter Impact Grant Program is open only to AAPP Collegiate Chapters, though the chapter can, and is encouraged to, invite other partner organizations to be involved. Special consideration will be given to projects involving at least one of the following types of partners:
    • Fellow AAPP Collegiate Chapters or other pharmacy student organization chapters (APhA-ASP, ACCP, AMCP…)
    • Student professional organizations representing other disciplines (i.e., medicine, nursing, social work)
    • Community organizations
    • Advocacy organizations, NAMI on Campus chapters, and like organizations are encouraged
  5. One individual will submit the application and serve as contact and representative for the chapter.
  6. Grant funds will only be distributed to the AAPP Collegiate Chapter receiving the award. The AAPP Collegiate Chapter is responsible for sharing proceeds of the grant, if applicable, with partnering organizations as outlined in the grant application.
  7. Applicants must have a chapter advisor/mentor who will be responsible for overseeing the project, and a letter of support must be included.
  8. All AAPP Foundation grant policies apply.

Reporting Requirements

  1. An abstract* must be submitted for poster consideration (early Jan. 2025 deadline) at the AAPP Annual Meeting. If accepted, the chapter representative will present a poster during the assigned poster session. A PDF copy of the poster must be uploaded online as instructed by AAPP.
  2. A written report must be submitted to the AAPP Foundation Board on or before May 7, 2025 and should include the budget with final expenses noted and reconciled to the approved grant award budget. Additional reporting items include:
    • Background and Details-what, why, impact, audience, final budget, timeline
    • Results-attendance, impact
    • Future recommendations, next possible phases
    • Pictures and/or video (if applicable)
  3. A verbal presentation should be given by the chapter representative during the Collegiate Chapter Meeting on Sunday, April 27, 2025, following the Student Programming Track at the AAPP Annual Meeting.

*Poster abstract submissions are made through AAPP's usual electronic poster submission process to be peer-reviewed by the abstracts and awards committee. The accepted grant recipient posters will be displayed in the poster hall at the assigned time during the AAPP Annual Meeting.
