Innovation in psychiatry practice is key to improving outcomes and quality of life for those living with mental illness, including substance use disorders. As such, grants that contribute to the advancement of psychiatric pharmacy practice through the funding of practice innovation and expansion projects are another core priority of AAPP Foundation (AAPPF). AAPPF funds innovative quality improvement projects and practice expansion that support the integration of psychiatric pharmacists into mental health care teams as a critical way to advance patient care outcomes and the profession.
Practice Expansion Grants
This grant program awards up to two $25,000 quality improvement project grants that support the integration of psychiatric pharmacists into mental health care teams. Projects like these are critical for the advancement of the psychiatric pharmacy profession and improved patient outcomes.
Defining the Future Research Grants
This grant program seeks to encourage doctor of pharmacy students, post-doctoral residents, and new practitioners with an interest in psychiatric pharmacy to investigate topics in line with the Foundation's mission and vision. Using a competitive selection process, the Foundation funds up to $15,000 in grants annually.
Past Projects
- The 2025 Practice Expansion Grant was awarded to P. Brittany Vickery for the project, “The Hendersonville Free Clinic Practice Expansion via Flexible-Schedule Telepsychiatry Provided by a Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner.” The project will expand access to care by a BCPP at multiple clinics with impact reported in early 2027.
